The university is seeking approval from the Board of Regents on Wednesday to implement the first of a five-year plan to raise rates on students, employees and visitors who park cars in campus lots and ramps.

Under the five-year plan, hourly parking in ramps would gradually increase from 75 cents per hour to $1. Meters would go up from 90 cents per hour to $1.20. A one-year permit for a commuter lot would increase to $324 from $240, and a host of other fees would increase.

University officials say the increases would be the first since 2009 and be used to construct and replace parking structures, support a new children's hospital, and other services.
