Six months in jail for man involved in a high speed chase in western Cass County in late May. 33-year-old Tyson R. Green of Ashland is doing the time in the Cass County Jail.
The Nebraska State Patrol report said it was an 11-minute pursuit and speeds ranged from 75 to 100 mph.
The Cassgram reports Deb Collins, NSP Public Information Coordinator, said a trooper attempted to stop a northbound 1998 Suzuki motorcycle for speeding two miles south of Alvo on Highway 63 in Cass County. The motorcycle failed to stop and the pursuit ensued.
The motorcycle continued northbound on Highway 63 before turning onto Highway 6. At the junction of Highways 6 & 31, the motorcycle jumped the median curb and brushed against an NSP cruiser. The motorcycle slid on its side and Green suffered leg injuries.
Green pled guilty to a Class IV Felony of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, said Chief Deputy Cass County Attorney Colin Palm. The incident became chargeable as a felony because of the “willful reckless manner” in which Green drove during the pursuit, said Palm. There were no amendments or charges dropped in the plea agreement but it did include the joint recommendation of the 180-day jail sentence. Green's driver's license is revoked for two years.
Green entered the guilty plea and was sentenced during the same court appearance earlier this week.
