A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for eastern Harrison, southeastern Monona, northern Pottawattamie and western Shelby counties until 4:45 p.m., Nemaha, northeastern Pawnee and northwestern Richardson counties until 5 p.m. and eastern Fremont, southeastern Mills, southern Montgomery and Page counties until 5:15 p.m.
A suspected car thief is hospitalized after a high speed chase and crash in Council Bluffs Thursday morning.
Police say a Monte Carlo was stolen from a home in the Lakewood Villa neighborhood near Lake Manawa around 2 a.m. Thursday. The suspect fled into Omaha, then doubled back into Iowa over the Veteran's Memorial Highway Bridge.
The driver was going east on that road in the wrong lanes, and when that person tried to get back into the right lanes, police say the car hit the median and flipped.
No word on that suspect's name or the extent of their injuries. Police say that person will be arrested once hospital treatment is administered.
