The first of its kind in Iowa; Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson High School now has its own bank branch, right inside the school.
It's part of an initiative to raise the financial literacy of young people.
The bank officially opened Tuesday morning just off the T.J. cafeteria.
It features checking and savings account, there is also an ATM in the school.
T.J. DECA students will work at the bank. The hours are Tuesday through Friday over the lunch period only.
The man who created the concept says financial literacy is lacking today.
The Iowa Legislature has made financial education mandatory in the 9th through the 12th grade.
