A high school senior learns valuable information in school and days later uses it to save a woman's life.
Abbey Hugo was working as a hostess at a local restaurant when she was alerted by another hostess to a woman choking on her food. Hugo didn't hesitate and went over to the woman and performed the Heimlich maneuver.
“I just got up behind her, got a good base and did the abdominal thrust on her four or five times and it came up,” says Hugo.
The teen learned the Heimlich maneuver from instructors at the Health Science Academy at Millard Horizon High School just days before it happened.
Hugo graduates from Millard North High School in the spring and hopes to study nursing in college.
