The Junior League of Lincoln hosted its second annual High Heel Relay Sunday morning and it wasn't just women running for a good cause.
Men, women and children of all ages came out to support the Junior League. "We were looking for an event that would really be fun, get our name out there, not your traditional relay but something that would really get people excited," said Junior League Organizer Liz Shotkoski. "Heels were really the answer."
Relay participants like Kather Brandenburg said the event was anything but ordinary. "You don't get to see ninjas in heels, kids in costume and men running in heels very often, so it's always a good day when you can see that."
The guys didn't have a problem tossing their running shoes to the side for a pair of semi-fitting stunners. "I am a two-time defending champion, I won two races last year so I have to defend my crown and my trophy," said Jack Yunker.
Male runners said the race gave them a whole new perspective. "It kills my feet, I don't think I would ever wear heels. I don't even wear pumps either, they're just the wedges."
