Veterans in need picked up an assist Monday at Bellevue’s WalMart Neighborhood Market.
The American Red Cross set up a one-day collection site for the Help a Hungry Hero program. They are collecting food for homeless veterans.
The 55th Contracting Squadron at Offutt Air Force Base is assisting.
The squadron’s Lavonne Shingler said, "It's really important to serve this part of our community because of what they've given us. We never want to forget. Their sacrifices help us to be free."
In case you couldn't help out with Monday’s collections, you can donate non-perishable food items to the Red Cross office at 80th and Center through Friday.
