Heartland Storms Prove Deadly

Monday’s storms across the heartland turned deadly in Iowa. On Tuesday afternoon, Cedar Rapids police recovered the body of 17-year-old Logan Blake from a lake. He had been sucked into a storm drain a mile from where his body was found.

That was the second fatality of the storm. David Lee Fry, 57, was killed in Fairfax, just outside of Cedar Rapids, when a building he was in collapsed.

Storms also hit northeast Nebraska again,

Brian Koenig said, “It's just a shock because, 50 feet, 50 yards maybe, and the house would've been gone."

Koenig lives outside of Hadar, approximately seven miles north of Norfolk.

He woke Monday morning to the sound of shaking windows as a funnel cloud passed outside his home.

He and his wife made it to the basement. The storm missed their house but flattened several out buildings.

No one was hurt.
