Heartland Man Sentenced for Deadly Crash

Evan Shiplett has been sentenced to six to 10 years in prison for Motor Vehicle Homicide. He had entered a plea of No Contest to the charge.

Police say Shiplett lost control of his pickup on an Interstate 480 off-ramp near 30th Street in September of 2013. The truck rolled and ended up in a grassy area nearby.

Two other people were in the vehicle with Shiplett - 18-year-old Jacob Levene, and 19-year-old Matthew Doty. Doty was ejected from the vehicle and died.

Shiplett could have faced up to 30 years in prison.
