Accused killer Dr. Anthony Garcia was in court Thursday as a judge considered a motion about Garcia's living conditions. A hearing was scheduled for September 11th.
Garcia is being held in administrative confinement at the Douglas County Jail. He wants to be transferred to a halfway house, saying the confinement is causing extreme hardship that's taking a toll on his mental health.
Garcia is accused of killing Thomas Hunter, son of Creighton pathologist William Hunter, and the family housekeeper Shirlee Sherman in 2008 and Dr. Roger Brumback and wife Mary in 2013. The state says both men played a role in getting Garcia out of the Creighton pathology program in 2001. Prosecutors say that was the motive in the murders.
Garcia's trial is scheduled for February.
