A $200,000 federal grant will go toward a two-year program to educate Omaha's Spanish-speaking community about indoor environmental issues and safety.
The EPA's Environmental Education Grant was awarded to the Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance, a nonprofit organization. The Omaha alliance's mission is to bring awareness and education to families about environmental hazards, healthy homes, lead poisoning and energy efficiency.
Together, they will implement the Grassroots Latino Environmental Education or GLEE project, focusing on indoor air quality, household toxic chemical safety and healthy housing.
