Gov. Terry Branstad has announced new and healthier offerings in Capitol Complex vending machines as part of his drive to improve health in the state.
The governor was joined at his weekly news conference Monday by Department of Public Health Director Mariannette Miller-Meeks to announce that the new offerings will be in vending machines in 13 state buildings. The offerings will be color-coded to mark the healthiest selections.
The governor says less healthy foods won't be removed from the machines, but he wants consumers to have healthier choices available.
In the governor's words: "We are not the food police."
