Healthier Eating on the Run

We've all been there - in the rush, with the kids in the car, you run into a local convenience store to grab something quick. But now that option can be a healthy one.

The Cubby’s in Bennington features a Snack and Go option that’s part of a push by the Douglas County Health Department to put healthier options within our grasp.

Complete with colorful signage, the goal is to draw eyes to healthier ready-to-eat snack options like fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain snacks and refreshing drinks.

It's just a pilot program now but those behind it hope to see it grow.

Cubby’s manager Sean Juett said, "There is a lot of talk of healthiness these days, you hear it a lot in the news, of a more healthy lifestyle and we just wanted to showcase that in our location and make sure that they knew that we were part of that same initiative to be able to present that to the customer in what they are looking for."

There are three locations in the county taking part in the program.

  • Cubby's off Highway 36 in Bennington
  • Afoma corner store at 30th & U Street
  • KNJ Grocery Store at 33rd and California
