Nebraska Democrat Chuck Hassebrook is ready to announce his running mate in the Nebraska governor's race. His campaign says he will name his choice Monday in Lincoln before traveling to Grand Island and Omaha.
Hassebrook is a former University of Nebraska regent and former longtime director of the Center for Rural Affairs.
He is running against Republican and Omaha businessman Pete Ricketts, who picked current Lt. Gov. Lavon Heidemann as his running mate. Heidemann is an Elk Creek dairy farmer and former state senator.
