A Weeping Water man has pleaded guilty to Class II Felony; firearm involved in domestic dispute. Sentencing is September 20th for 47-year-old Daniel Richardson.
The Cassgram reports Richardson pled guilty to attempted possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Under the plea agreement, the charge was amended from a Class ID Felony and a Class IV Felony charge of terroristic threats was dropped. There is no agreement on a recommendation for sentencing. Richardson remains free on bond.
The conviction stems from a domestic dispute last November at a Weeping Water apartment. Cass County sheriff’s deputies arrived and found both parties intoxicated, said Deputy Cass County Attorney Richard Fedde. Richardson had previously been convicted of third degree assault of the woman and was not allowed to possess any weapons. Deputies located a 12 gauge shotgun in Richardson’s closet after the woman told deputies of the gun.
