With Friday's windy and dry conditions, it didn't take much to start a grass fire at Memorial Park.
The Omaha Fire Department arrived at the park near 56th and Dodge just after 2 p.m.
The fire burned up about a half acre of the park.
Crews doused the flames in about 15 minutes, but stuck around to make sure it stayed out.
Witnesses say once it started, it spread fast. "It was really little at first. We just saw some smoke and just probably, not even a foot of black, and then it just spread and the black kept getting bigger and bigger," said Aya Zacharias, one witness.
There's still no word on what caused the fire.
