Firefighters battled a pair of grass fires off Highway 75 north of Plattsmouth Saturday afternoon.
Flames were first reported just before 4 p.m. at Highway 75 and Beach Road south of the Platte River. Residents on Beach Road were advised to be ready to evacuate, but that order never came.
A second blaze broke out nearby west of Beach Road near Buccaneer Bay Road and the Bay Hills Golf Course. No injuries were reported.
One of the fires was caused when a landowner burned brush on his property. Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Bill Dudek said the fire spread quickly through the tall grass and accessing it was a challenge.
Firefighters dealt with another brush fire aided by gusty winds near Bellevue.
