Field trips for the MathAlive! Exhibit at the Strategic Air & Space Museum are filling up quickly after several foundations have awarded grants to help underwrite the costs of admission and transportation.
So far, moe than 4,000 students from around the area have taken part in MathAlive! field trips. The Sherwood Foundation and the Peter Kiewit Foundation are sponsoring trips for all Omaha Public School District middle school students. The Midlands Community Foundation is also sponsoring a trip for Plattsmouth Community Middle School.
Students can take part in hands-on activities that teach fun and informative lessons in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and specifically math through a MathAlive! exhibit.
The goal is to give students the tools to develop innovation-thinking skills, find creative solutions and gain new approaches to problem solving.
