"Grandma, Send Money...I'm In Jail"

Joanne Stierle says an early morning call gave her quite a scare.

"Grandma, this is Art. I'm in trouble," says Stierle.

Her alleged grandson told her he was in jail-and then put his attorney on the phone. Joanne says the second person on the line was pushy.

He told her to get $2100 out of her account.

Stierle says, "Hurry, hurry, hurry. Save the grandson from five days in jail."

Joanne got in her car and started heading to her bank. She got all the way to the parking lot, but something made her stop before going in.

Her grandson lives in the small town of Fullerton, Nebraska.

Joanne says, "There's no way in the world that if Art was in Fullerton at the police station that his dad wouldn't know, because his dad is Mayor and they'd tell him right away."

Instead of wiring the money to the man on the other end of the line-Joanne called her grandson instead.

"I told him, and he was like, duh!"

That call saved her thousands of dollars-and she hopes soon she'll stop worrying about who was on the other end of the line.

Stierle says, "I still get palpitations. I'm a person who's not afraid of much after you get to my age."
