Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman is calling this legislative session a pretty good one with tax relief being a key reason why.
That was just part of his message Tuesday as he spoke before the Ralston Chamber of Commerce.
Heineman said the big takeaway for Nebraska taxpayers this year is the $400 million in tax relief.
“This session the big winners are the Nebraska taxpayers with this tax relief,” he said. “We're going to index the individual tax brackets for inflation, so that is good news. We'll begin to exempt Social Security income, some military retirement and we've added another $125 million so we're making progress."
There's still work to do on a number of bills. The legislature is scheduled to adjourn on Thursday.
