The American Lung Association in Nebraska’s 1st Annual Fairways FORE Airways golf scramble is set for Monday, July 28th at Indian Creek Golf Course.
The tournament will focus attention to the growing need for lung cancer research funding, as well as to help eradicate the stigma of lung cancer as a smoker's disease.
Leah Bochnicek was a healthy, active wife and mother of three children. She never smoked a day in her life but in December of 2013, she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
According to the American Lung Association, every five minutes, a woman in the U.S. is told she has lung cancer and that the disease is the number one cancer killer of women with one of the lowest five-year survival rates of all cancer types, at approximately 16 percent. The rate of new lung cancer cases in women has doubled over the last 35 years.
Registration is $100 per golfer and it includes green fees, cart and dinner.
