Dozens donated blood in Papillion Saturday in memory of Meighan Johansen, a special education teacher who died of cervical cancer last year. Papillion-La Vista High School and the Red Cross hosted the event as a way to carry on her generous spirit.
“Meighan was unbelievably hopeful and inspiring to all of us so I think that being able to do something in her memory that respects that she was 100 percent hopeful and giving to everyone else, so we needed to do the same to honor her,” said friend Kelly Johnson.
Meighan’s friends hope to make this an annual tradition.
