Girls Inc. Receives Donation After Dinner Auction Failed

After no one bid on a catered dinner at billionaire investor Warren Buffett's childhood home in Omaha, the nonprofit still received a sizeable donation.

Girls Inc. offered the dinner with a minimum bid of $6,000, but didn't receive any bids before the auction ended last month.

Executive Director Roberta Wilhelm says the group was surprised to hear from George Frost after the auction with an offer to donate $6,000. Wilhelm says Frost, who lives in Maine, is a fan of Buffett's and wanted to honor the investor with a donation.

The dinner event Girls Inc. tried to auction off didn't include any access to Buffett himself.

Last year, an annual lunch with Buffett that benefits San Francisco's Glide Foundation sold for more than $2,626,411.
