Girls Inc. has some big plans for the future that took root Wednesday with a groundbreaking for a new 55,000 square-foot addition.
The new space will include a gymnasium, locker rooms, media and fitness centers, and an instructional kitchen.
Organizers say this is an important step.
Girls Inc. Executive Director Roberta Wilhelm said, “It's a third of our mission: Strong, Smart, and Bold. And the strong’s piece is healthy. Healthy in mind, and body, and spirit, and we want to have opportunities for the girls to be physically active.”
Girls Incorporated also announced a partnership with University of Nebraska Medical Center to have a clinic in the new space.
