Girl's Hair Lit On Fire By Student With Lighter

A student at King Science Center waiting after school for her mother to pick her up had her hair singed by another student.

According to police reports, the 12-year-old girl was outside the main entrance to the school on January 8th when another 12-year-old girl came up behind her with a BIC lighter she had gotten from another student.

The girl held the lighter to the back of the victim's head while it was lit and singed the bottom of her hair.

The singed hair was noticed by other students, one saying "Wow, your hair is messed up."

The girl then turned and saw the other girl with the lighter still lit.

The victims mother showed up and reported the incident to the school.

The student who allegedly had the lighter was confronted, the lighter was found, still in her pocket.

The police report says that the girl may have been mad at the victim for not including her in a birthday party that she had originally been invited to.

According to the victim's mother, there was not a birthday party planned this year, although she said, her daughter usually had one.

She also said her daughter is doing fine, although she was a bit traumatized when she learned the full gravity of what could have happened.
