The Iowa State Patrol says a trooper who was helping search for a woman in northwest Iowa made an emergency landing in Denison after his plane hit a flock of geese.
Trooper Scott Pigsley was flying to Atlantic from Sioux City when he hit the geese early Tuesday. He landed safely at the Denison airport about
18 miles away.
Officials say Pigsley had no idea what happened until he was on the ground and saw the damage. Pigsley wasn't injured.
Pigsley, a pilot for 17 years, was flying a single-engine Cessna at about 1,500 feet when he hit the geese. He was returning home after the search was called off when the woman was found.
