Vegetables are being picked from a community garden by people who either intend to steal or don't realize the plants belong to someone else. 36 small plots are rented by gardeners.
But the founder of the Benson community garden near 60th and Western is concerned that others are taking the vegetables. Kurt Goetzinger said, "We have people who come in usually in the middle of the day and pretty much rob us dry."
Kurt has posted signs that plants inside the fence of the corner property is rented to gardeners. Outside the fence is a vegetable patch that anyone can pick from or a basket where the gardeners put extra vegetables free for the taking.
The gate to the rental plots will be closed to discourage trespassing.
