A celebration of life service will be held Thursday in memory of Payton Benson. The five-year-old was shot, while eating breakfast in her home, on January 15.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 23 at Clair Memorial United Methodist Church, near 56th and Ames. The family asks that memorials go to the Payton Elise Benson Memorial Fund at American National Bank.
Payton was struck by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting at 45th and Bedford. A neighbor reported hearing roughly 20 shots.
So far, police have made five arrests in connection with the stolen car used in the shooting; however, no one has been charged with murder.
