Fremont is holding a Household Hazardous Waste Collection next weekend. The event this year will be held in the west parking lot of Christensen Field from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Keep Fremont Beautiful, in cooperation with the city of Fremont, Dodge County and the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, are hosting the event.
Residents of Fremont and Dodge County are welcome to bring their household hazardous waste. No business hazardous waste will be accepted.
Paint, poisons, fertilizers, banned materials, pesticides, insecticides and other lawn materials, lead acid batteries, mercury and mercury-related materials, along with pharmaceuticals can be dropped off.
Needles, PCBs, radioactive wastes, tires and appliances will not be accepted.
Keep Fremont Beautiful receives a grant through the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality to pay for the expenses associated with the transport and disposal of the hazardous waste.
