Freezing drizzle and icy road conditions across much of Iowa led scores of schools to delay the start of classes Friday morning.

In the WOWT 6 News viewing area, the Clearfield Consolidated School District and Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton started two hours late and South Page Community Schools began at 9:45 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued freezing rain advisories in the southeastern two-thirds of Iowa and more wintery weather is expected to roll in over the weekend.

Saturday will bring a chance of light freezing rain early, then snow by Saturday night. Snow is expected to end on Sunday, but residents should expect areas of blowing snow during the day, making travel difficult.
