The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Behlen Observatory will be open free to the public for viewing next week.
Provided the sky is clear, visitors will be able to see several celestial objects with the observatory's 30-inch telescope and with smaller telescopes set up outside. Objects include the planets Venus and Saturday, star clusters and the Ring Nebula in the constellation Lyra.
The event is scheduled to run from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 13. A member of the observatory staff will present a program at 8 p.m. on the objects visible in the evening sky.
The observatory is in the eastern Nebraska town of Mead.
