Druid Hill Elementary students have a new place to read and it was sculpted just for them thanks to a fraternity.
In front of students and OPS officials, Alpha Phi Alpha revealed a custom bench donated to the school to promote reading and literacy.
The fraternity also donated books and a check to buy more books.
Principal Cherice Williams told WOWT 6 News that she is thrilled.
“This will be a safe place and a reminder of what school represents, a place where they can be the successful and learn to read and just be a product of their community," she said.
The fraternity is having its Midwest Regional Conference in downtown Omaha this week. The donation is part of their service projects while in town.
