Four people, from Omaha, were arrested after officers spotted a stolen vehicle traveling on Highway 91, just outside Snyder, Neb.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Department, officers noticed two men in a truck that was stolen over the 4th of July weekend. Once the driver of the truck spotted the cruiser, they turned north onto a county road and after a short chase, the driver fled into a cornfield.
The passenger, 34-year-old Curtis Fields, was arrested at the scene on an outstanding warrant.
The Nebraska State Patrol and the Omaha Police helicopter were called in to help search for the driver. The initial effort was unsuccessful; however, more than five hours later, 30-year-old Robert Gumpert was found walking in an area two miles west of the initial search area.
Investigators told WOWT 6 News Gumpert has been identified as the man driving the stolen truck. He was booked for possession of stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, possession of a controlled substance, obstructing a police officer, and an outstanding warrant.
Two others were also arrested in connection to the investigation, at a home in Dodge, Neb. 24-year-old Siearra Detlef and 31-year-old Erin Jorgensen, both of Omaha, were charged with obstruction of a police officer and providing false information.
