A former Des Moines police who is trying to get back his job faces a drunken-driving charge.
West Des Moines police say 28-year-old Mersed Dautovic was arrested Saturday after he was found passed out in his vehicle.
Dautovic lost his job in June 2009, accused of using excessive force during a traffic stop in 2008.
Dautovic filed a grievance, and the Des Moines Civil Service Commission ruled last year that Dautovic should be reinstated.
The city is appealing that decision.
Dautovic faces the OWI charge and one for carrying a concealed weapon with a permit.
