The Flood of 2011 gave the Fort Calhoun Fire Department a chance to hone their skills.
The flood left a house north in Fort Calhoun damaged beyond repair. Firefighters recently burned the house down in a controlled burn training exercise.
The house is owned by the Fort Calhoun Stone Company and was donated to the Fort Calhoun Fire Department.
Fort Calhoun Fire Chief Chad Nixon says nothing can compare to experience gained by these controlled burn exercises where firefighters can watch the burn and how it builds.
