Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman, Tuesday, announced flags to be flown at half-staff Friday, in accordance with the proclamation from President Barack Obama.
The request comes following the passing of retired astronaut Neil Armstrong, as a sign of respect.
"Neil Armstrong was a great American," Heineman said, "whose actions inspired and awed generations of citizens of our country and people around the world."
Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon back on June 20, 1969. He died Saturday at the age of 82 due to complications following heart surgery.
