The Iowa State Patrol says speed and alcohol likely contributed to the Interstate 80 crash south of Menlo, Iowa in Adair County that killed five Grand Island men Friday night.

The victims were heading eastbound just after 8 p.m. when the driver, 29-year old Alex Paz-Lobo, lost control of his car, crossed the westbound lanes and rolled over into a field.

The others killed were 41-year-old Javier Martinez-Martin, 25-year-old Denis Juvenal Sorto-Martinez, 21-year-old Jose Martinez and 19-year-old Erik Rauda. Martinez-Martin was the only one wearing a seat belt.
