A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for central Johnson, northwestern Nemaha, southern Otoe and northeastern Pawnee counties in Nebraska until 3:15 p.m. Sunday. A tornado watch is in effect for parts of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa until 10 p.m. Sunday.
Republican Deb Fischer has declared victory in the race for U.S. Senate.
In her victory speech, Fischer thanked challenged Bob Kerrey for his service to our country and to Nebraska. Fischer went on to say that she "won this election with dignity and class -- the Nebraska way."
Bob Kerrey thanked his supporters for all of their hardwork. In his concession speech he congratulated Fischer and asked his supporters to do the same. He added that he didn't need to win to make a difference, saying he hopes his methods of bipartisanship will be passed down.
Final numbers from the Nebraska Secretary of State are not yet available.
