The original Valentino's restaurant, opened in Lincoln in 1957, will close Sunday.
The structure near North 35th and Holdrege streets will be torn down, but the restaurant itself will relocate across the street.
General manager Steve Deriese is excited about the move. "When they come to the new restaurant they're going to be able to see us bake the pizza. It's going to be open into the dining room, which is very unique."
It will be an old look in a new building. Deriese says the layout is how it used to be when he first worked at Valentino's in the 1980s and 1990s.
Customer Steve Carsten has been going to the original location for more than 50 years. "To tell you the truth I didn't like the pizza. I had never had pizza before and I wasn't crazy about it the first time I came, but it grows on you and over time I got addicted to Valentino's pizza."
The old neon sign in front of the restaurant will be moved to the new location.
