Update: Emergency Crews Respond to Pair of House Fires

Omaha firefighters were called to a pair of house fires within about an hour on Tuesday afternoon.

The first was near 38th and Seward around 2:30. Neighbors reported hearing fireworks shortly before the structure began burning.

Neighbors told WOWT 6 News that kids were running and screaming, "Fire!" after the fireworks went off. Firefighters quickly doused the flames.

According to neighbors the home had been vacant.

No injuries were reported but next door neighbor Nathan Jackson said, "It was fully engulfed.”


House Fire

A short time later, at 3:35 p.m., firefighters were called to another house fire - that one at 2825 Bristol.

A WOWT 6 News crew on the scene says it involved a fire on the porch. It was contained there.

The flames were quickly extinquished and there were no reports of injuries.

The battalion chief on scene said no one was home at the time.

There was no initial word on a cause.
