After days of searching, firefighters have recovered the body of a 28-year-old man who drowned in the Cedar River on Saturday.
Firefighters found the body Tuesday morning at about 11:20 a.m. in the water near the shore of the Cedar River where witnesses said he went underwater
Saturday while trying to cross the river near a boat ramp.
The recovery came about two hours after Cedar Rapids rescue boats resumed searching for the body for a fourth day.
Firefighters transferred the body to a local hospital, where the medical examiner is expected to confirm the identity of the drowning victim. Authorities have not released the man's name.
