A grass fire in the Nebraska state capital of Lincoln has been extinguished.
Lincoln firefighters and the Nebraska Air National Guard made quick work of the grass fire in north Lincoln on Monday evening.
The fire was reported just after 6 p.m. in the bed of Salt Creek just east of Interstate 180 near Hayward Park. By 7 p.m., it was mostly contained. The guard provided a water tanker to help fight the fire.
Battalion Chief Tim Linke says the blaze scorched about three acres, but caused no injuries or building damage.
