Fire Destroys Small Town Home

Fire destroyed home near Union,Nebraska Wednesday afternoon.

The Cassgram reports Union, Nehawka and Murray volunteer fire departments fought the blaze at 3505 12th Avenue (between Klein Road and Waconda Road). Units first responded to the 1800 square foot home just after 2pm and were on scene until about 6pm. Union and Nehawka returned about a half hour later as the fire rekindled.

The house was owned by the family of the late Richard A. Erixson, Jr. who died in a motorcycle crash in Omaha on July 30th, said Union Fire Chief Bill Bescheinen. He said the family was in the process of moving out of the residence. No one was at home of the time of the fire.

The state marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
