The Omaha Professional Fire Fighters Association says it's pleased to see Governor Dave Heineman sign LB 811, which ups the penalty for assaulting a firefighter, paramedic or social worker.
The bill was inspired by an incident when a woman shot a paramedic in the back of an ambulance. Justine Dubois was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
"Protecting our members and the safety of all the citizens we serve is our top priority, and the passing of LB 811 will help us do just that," says Union President Steve LeClair.
