Fire Truck with Lights & Sirens – Driver Fails to Yield

Witnesses tell police that the driver of a Chevy Blazer is to blame for a crash with an Omaha fire truck. The two collided at 40th & Paxton just after noon Tuesday.

According to eyewitness accounts, the fire truck came to a complete stop at the intersection with lights flashing and sirens blaring. Engine 21 was responding to a fire call on North 40th Street.

As the fire truck proceeded through the intersection, other vehicles were stopped. However, the driver of a Blazer drove around the stopped traffic and into the path of the fire truck.

The driver of the Blazer, 65-year old Samuel Prim, was treated and released at a hospital. Charges against him are pending approval by the city prosecutor’s office.
