The Omaha Fire Department told WOWT 6 News Sunday a family will be without a home to stay in for at least one night following a fire that broke out around 7:45 p.m.
The fire began and was mostly isolated to a back, enclosed porch area of the home near 22nd & Evans. Crews said the three people living inside, believed to be family, made it out safely before firefighters arrived on scene.
It took crews about 10 minutes to extinguish the flames, but the house suffered considerable smoke and water damage in the back and side of the structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Red Cross was on scene to help the people in the home find shelter for Sunday night.
