Fire damaged a Louisville, Nebraska bar Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the Good Times Bar near 3rd and Main streets just after 8 a.m. The owner is also a Louisville firefighter and heard the call.
It appears the flames started in an apartment above the bar. A woman who lives there got out safely. The other resident was at work. The bar sustained smoke and water damage.
"Saw flames lapping at the window and a cat going crazy," said witness Kevin Adams. "I went up and one guy kicked the door in and there was too much smoke, couldn't get in to see what was happening."
Two cats died in the fire.
The owners released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:
We would like to thank the Louisville, Plattsmouth, Springfield, Weeping water, Manley, and Avoca Volunteer Fire Departments along with the Cass County Sheriffs Dept. for their quick response this morning. They did a tremendous job and we couldn't ask for anything better. We are very proud of that brotherhood and to be a part of it.
The fire was contained to the apartment upstairs but the bar and other apartment sustained heavy smoke and water damage. Clean-up is already underway and we will be back open as soon as possible.
Thank you for all of your thoughts and support.
