An estimated 750,000 people were expected to jam the area around the launch site Friday despite a dismal 30% chance of a launch because of the weather. The countdown was stopped with about 31 seconds due to an apparent computer glitch. The problem was resolved and the countdown continued a few minutes later, at 10:28am CDT.

The flight will last 12 days. The Atlantis is scheduled to return to the Kennedy Space Center where it will end up on permanent display.
