During the month of February 2013, fifteen persons were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Roads.
The deaths occurred in 15 separate crashes. Eleven of the 13 vehicle occupants killed were not using safety
belts. Two fatalities occurred on the interstate, six happened on non-interstate highways, and
seven took place on local roads. Nine of the fatal crashes were single vehicle run-off-road accidents. Two of the fatalities were pedestrians.
So far in 2013, 40 people have died on Nebraska roadways compared to 33 in the first two months of 2012.
There were 11 fatalities in February of 2012.
