He held plans to remake the Crossroads Mall in his hands, but nobody was allowed to see them. Rodney Yates is the Principal Owner of OTB Destination. Yates and his partner hope to redevelop the site from Target to 76th Street.
"We are going to build half a million square feet of retail, and around 400 apartment units, residential units that will be part of the development," Yates said. "We will have a new-to-market destination hotel. We will bring in about 300,000 square feet of office."
On Thursday night, Yates was swarmed by people wanting more information. However, Yates was just one part of the city of Omaha's public forum. The city already has a general idea of what they want the entire Crossroads area to be like, but they wanted to hear people's comments and concerns.
This was not what most were expecting. Michelle Davis said she was looking for official plans for the area. "And we are breaking out into groups, where you can go stand at stations and ask questions. Apparently there isn't a presentation."
Only ideas and hopes were discussed, albeit important ones.
